Meet our Pastor/Priest

Rev. Dr. Simeon Newbold, Sr.

Father Simeon Eugene Newbold, Sr. is a native of Miami, Florida born as the fourth child from the union of David Jerome Newbold, Sr. and Catherine Melvina Higgs. He is a "Cradle Episcopalian" having been baptized, confirmed, and ordained both as a Deacon and Priest in his home church of the Historic Saint Agnes' Parish.  

Dr. Newbold is a proud product of the public schools of Dade County, Florida, graduating from Miami Jackson Senior High School. He matriculated at Tuskegee University where he earned the Bachelor of Social Work degree and the Master of Education in Supervision Administration. He received the Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Seminary of Seabury Western. Dr. Newbold earned a doctorate degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. 

After his ordination to the priesthood, Dr. Newbold assumed the leadership of Saint Simon's in Fort Pierce, Florida. Dr. Newbold also served as Pastor/Priest of Saint Peter's, Richmon Virginia. Chaplain to the general student population and the football team at Virginia Union University, and he served with distinction as Chaplain/Priest at Saint Paul's College in Lawrencville, Virginia. He presently serve as Pastor/Priest of Saint Kevin’s Episcopal Church. 

Dr. Newbold has served the Episcopal Church in a number of capacities. He was appointed by the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church to serve on the National Commission for Black Ministries. Served on the Bylaws Committee of the National Union of Black Episcopalians, Coordinator for the Presiding Bishop Fund for World Relief, Commission on Ministry, and Commission on Minority Affairs. He served as Clergy Deputy to Provincial Synod (Province III). He also served on the National Episcopal Church planning committee for "Day of Recognition" of the three Black Episcopal colleges at the Washington National Cathedral. He is a former member of the Executive Board in the Diocese of Southeast Florida.  

His community involved ministry spans over many years. He is most proud to have served as Vice President of the Peter/Paul Development Center Board of Directors. The Center offers enrichment programs for high risk youth in inner city Richmond, Virginia and programs for area Senior Citizens. Dr. Newbold played an active part in rising $1.6 million dollars for the construction of the new Peter/Paul Development Center.

Dr. Newbold has been a college professor at Miami Dade Community College, Saint Paul's College, Richmond Virginia Seminary, and Hampton University. He has been an invited guest lecturer at Alabama State University and Elizabeth City State University.

Dr. Newbold is a Scuba Diver since 1982, obtaining the highest certification for recreational diving. He also enjoys inline skating, reading, working out, and hanging out with family and friends. He holds membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Union of Black Episcopalians (Life Member), and National Association of Black Scuba Divers. 

Dr. Newbold is the proud father of two adult children, Simeon, Jr. and Krishna Alanna.
